We're delighted to announce that we're launching our new wildlife tour company, Mariposa Nature Tours, at Global Birdfair 2023, at the Rutland Showground on 14, 15 & 16 July 2023. We've been leading wildlife tours as freelance tour leaders for many years now, and we know what works in a wildlife holiday - excellent, detailed site knowledge; friendly, knowledgeable and organised tour leaders; and comfortable, family-run hotels.
For years we've enjoyed breaking new ground, pioneering tours to European destinations that hitherto weren't covered by other wildlife tour companies, and we'll continue to do that in the years to come.
We'll be focusing primarily on our two main fields of interest, butterflies and botany, but will also be offering general interest wildlife holidays, and some specialist tours too - some of our leaders have particular interests in mammals, birds and dragonflies, for example. From time to time we'll collaborate with colleagues with interests in other fields of natural history - watch this space for some unique tours in future!
We're going to donate money from every single tour we run to two organisations that, in their respective fields, are proactive conservation bodies - the European Butterfly Group, and the Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland. We intend that these donations will be used specifically to support the training and further education of individuals who will work as the conservationists / scientists of tomorrow, contributing towards efforts to sustain European biodiverity.
